What is a notarial certification for?
If your document is issued abroad, it must be certified by a notary. Notarial certification makes your document legally recognized on the territory of our country. It will be accepted by registry offices, passport offices, banks and authorities in Ukraine.
The most of translations and certifications of documents are usually made on diplomas and passports.
If you translate documents to submit to state authorities abroad, they need to be apostilled or legalized. This is applicable, for example, when submitting a diploma to enroll to a foreign university.
Though, it must be clarified which paperwork arrangement protocol is to be applied for the target country.

What notarial certification is required for your case?
Please, make clarification in advance with the authority the document is going to be submitted. You may be required to provide a certified original or a certified copy.
The arrangement of a certified document also depends on this.
If a copy is certified by a notary, the translation is sewn to this copy. When certifying, the notary stamps “Copy”, as well as the note about it on the back of the document.
Thus, there are two types of notarial certification :
- a notary certifies the translator’s signature only;
- a notary certifies both the copy made from the original document and the translator’s signature.
Why the papers aren't accepted?
Each notary complies with the rules for processing documents for certification and has the right not to accept certain documents.
